We have had an eventful last week of the regular season with a skiathlon, basketball game, presentation on Alaska by Jeremy, and NEPSACs
The skiathlon on Tuesday was a cold one with some exciting intervals. We followed that up with a wet romp on Wednesday into the logging trails behind the Bethel Inn. It was a giant climb for the first half, which ended in a slightly sketchy downhill for the second half. By the end of the ski I was soaked to the bone.
Thursday was an easy day, one that included an exciting game of basketball (although not too exciting for the freshman girls…). Emily, Ani, Caleb, Brad, Ben, and Duncan were able to showcase their basketball skills out on the court. There were a couple falls from the younger side of the team making me (Livy) glad that I don’t play basketball. A sports career that probably would have ended in many injuries both mental and physical.
After our Thursday practice Jeremy showed us some old school slides on his mountaineering days in Alaska. Making most of the team inspired to one day achieve the level of coolness that Jeremy has.
Finally, we wrapped up this epic week with NEPSAC championships at Gunstock in NH. The morning was a freestyle mass start race, which went well for many of our team. Izzy won the B race, Andrew was 7th, Marcus was 3rd, and Caleb was 2nd. For the girls Steph was 10th and Leela was 6th. In the afternoon ww had a 3×1.5 relay. The boys A team won this event with the girls A team coming in 4th. However, both girls and boys B relay teams came in second. Overall, the boys Gould team won NEPSACs with the girls coming in fourth. It was a great way to finish off an awesome season and we look forward to some great racing the next couple of weekends with the qualifier, U16 festival, and Eastern High Schools!
Don’t worry and Ski happy!
