This weekend we headed to Lake Placid for the third Eastern Cup. It was a long weekend that was filled with lots of racing and fun. We were able to explore some of the Olympic trails on Friday. On Saturday and Sunday we skied in the shadow of the Olympic Ski Jump at the Olympic jumping complex.
On Friday I went on a ski tour with Leela, Brad, Livy, and Lilo lead by Jeremy. We only managed to get a little lost, but we were able to see the biathlon range, and hear about Jeremy’s days racing. We followed our ski up with some viewing of the luge Junior Development Team practice.
Saturday there was a sprint around a very hilly course, none of us made rounds although Andrew was very close. The course was all up and then all downhill into the stadium making it so that I died on the way up and tried not to fall on the way down. However, on Saturday night the girls and the coaches went ice skating around the old olympic outdoor speed skating track and the boys walked around town.
Sunday we had tricky was conditions and classic distance races. It was very warm and most of us raced in T-shirts and struggled up the hill. The course was physically draining and after I watched Marcus race he came back to the trailer looking for his New England jacket that he was wearing. Hopefully we will be rested before next weekend and the last Eastern Cup. Also the Gould Twitter is up and running with lots of pictures thanks to Brad.
