Interim Head of School Search

April 6, 2018

The next several months will be an exciting time for Gould. Leadership transitions are opportunities for organizations to look inward and to take steps forward. First, I would like to take a moment to again thank Matt Ruby for six years of leadership and vision. Gould accomplished much during his tenure as Head of School, including the adoption of blended learning, the partnership with the Manhattan School of Music, the renovation of Hanscom Hall, the opening of the IDEAS Center, expansion of Ninth Grade Four Point to Tanzania and Ecuador, and the growth of the science research program. Gould is in a strong position to move forward and continue to be a world-class school.

As you know, Matt will be completing his tenure at Gould on June 30th. We have named a search committee of faculty, staff, and trustees who are working closely with Bob Fricker of Carney, Sandoe, and Associates to identify a pool of applicants. From that pool, the committee will identify a number of finalists and hopes to arrange visits to campus by the end of May. This will give students and faculty an opportunity to meet with the final candidates. We hope to name an Interim Head of School in June.

The members of the search committee are:

Nancy Barstow
Nancy is a long-time faculty member at Gould, teaching in our English Studies Program. Nancy is an advisor, works in Davidson dorm, coordinates the Rugrats program, and is the girls’ junior varsity soccer coach.

Thank you to the members of the committee who will be spending many hours working to identify strong leaders for our school. We will continue to update the community on the work of the search committee and will be soliciting feedback from all of Gould’s stakeholders. We will post regular updates on the process to our website. We look forward to talking with you more about the process and about your vision for Gould Academy.
