Tim Whiton ’05

Associate Registrar
Nordic Program Director
M.A., Montana State University
B.A. Bates College;

As Associate Registrar, Mr. Whiton assists in the development of the academic schedule and student course selections. Hehas coached NCAA Division I programs at Montana State University, Bowdoin College, and the University of Maine as well as privately worked with professional athletes skiing independently or with clubs such as Bridger Ski Foundation and Auburn Ski Club. He has been fortunate to work with six NCAA All-Americans, one NCAA individual champion, dozens of NCAA and Junior Nationals competitors, several US Nationals and Super Tour podium finishers, and two athletes who skied at the 2018 Olympics. He is a 2005 Gould graduate and raced at Bates College and semi-professionally post-college. He is a passionate believer in helping young people understand and trust the process of development and wants to see his former athletes being successful and enjoying their athletic lives far beyond their time at Gould. Success at this comes from blending life, academics, and athletics together and bringing a young person’s other interests onto the ski trails and skiing into other parts of their lives. He earned L200 USSA Coaching certification and is a NENSA certified coach . He also coached Gould’s Nordic team from 2011 to 2012. While he lives and breathes skinny-ski skiing, he also loves most other endurance sports, especially ones involving time in the mountains with his wife, Tara, and son, Rhys.
