Mr. Penley, a Bethel almost-native, loves living in this beautiful corner of the world. A teacher in the History and World Languages departments, who also works in the Dean of Students Office, he is excited to work with students in a wide variety of settings. He loves to travel and tries to use every chance he gets to see new places, experience new cultures, and learn a little more about the world in which we live. He has traveled to China many times, both for personal study of language and teaching pedagogy and as a leader with students. Mr. Penley also runs Holden Hall, one of the two boys’ dormitories on campus. In addition to his work as a teacher, dorm parent, and advisor, he helps direct the fall theater production. He has lived in a dormitory continuously for more than half of his life, having first lived in a dorm at age 14.
